Are You Having Problems With 2003 Checksum Offload Exchange?
If you’re getting an Exchange 2003 checksum dump error, read these troubleshooting guidelines.
PC running slow?
This fixes some of the networking improvements released in Windows Server in the Scalable Networking Pack 2003. As they can cause slow or intermittent performance issues if the network drivers you are using are old or do not really support the new features.

This article describes how to permanently fix network performance issues that require Windows advanced networking capabilities. These features include:
- Outsource TCP / IP Checksums
- Scale Received Page (RSS)
- Unloading the TCP Stack
Improved Network Performance
Windows Scalable Networking Pack (SNP) was released as a standalone update for Windows 2003 Server SP1 and was later added in Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2. It could be a collection of group bandwidth performance improvements and. During installation, they were activated by changing the default settings. There were problems with the specifications and someWith hot network drivers, resulting in network performance issues. So the help had to be turned off. Most of the issues were resolved later. However, for Windows Server 2003, it is always recommended to support this type of shutdown when not required. Server
Windows 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2012 have more powerful TCP / IP stacks that are included in addition to SNP enhancements. In addition, most of the parameters were changed automatically just to customize them.
Windows Server 2008
- SP2 Required
- Hotfix KB 979614
- Hotfix KB 967224
- Reactivate the operating system RSS and TV adapters.
- Update the network card drivers to the latest version recommended by the manufacturer.
- Configure RSS settings for your organization’s adapters as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Update your antivirus software to the latest versions / kernels and even definitions
Windows Server 2008 R2
- Service Pack 1
- Hotfix KB 2519736
- If you are using TCP Chimney Offload, you need to installhotfix KB 2525390.
- Recommended hotfix KB 2511305 installation
- Re-enable RSS on the operating system and on the system’s network adapters.
- Update your network card drivers to the latest version from the manufacturer, really helpful
- Adjust the RSS settings of the operator adapters according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Update your Trojan horse software to the latest versions / kernels and / or definitions
As an alternative to installing SP1 and hotfix KB 2519736 as recommended below, you can install the following with Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM:
- Hotfix KB 977977
- Hotfix 979612
Note that RSS requires swapping of the NIC timing checksum for ease of use. Don’t confuse outsourcing TCP checksums with outsourcing TCP stacks. When outlets are then grouped together, RSS should work fine as long as it is turned on for all outlets (depending on the offer). NetDMA should authenticate automatically if supported.
Network enhancementsOperating system improvements are designed to improve network bandwidth on servers and to transfer some network tasks to the hardware of the network card. This is primarily for adapters that operate at a connection speed of 1 Gb / s and higher and require the creation of network connectors and drivers to implement improvements. If the drivers do not support enhancements or the driver has problems with them, you may need to manually disable them. If you have purchased a device that can handle TCP / RSS / NetDMA feed offload and that adapter is not working properly, you should first check each driver version. A newer driver for many network adapters can fix just about any network problem you have. Use the following information and check the network card settings and actual operating system settings for SNP settings.
Determining thread information in Windows Server 2007 and Windows Server 2008 R2
You may be able to find the network driver and version with date. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click ” Start> right-click Computer, then click Manage.
- Generally expand the System Tools group in the Navigation Pane as needed.
- Click Device Manager in the Navigation Pane. You should see something similar to the screenshot below.
- Expand Network Adapters in the right pane, then double-click the adapter.
On Windows Server 2003, follow these steps to access Device Manager:
- Open Control Panel in Administration Tools.
- In the Administrative Tools section, click Computer Management.
- Click Device Manager. Then go to the driver provider’s website (also under the Drivers tab). Check with the latest driver and see if this is the newer driver date you found in the device properties. You can also find a solution in its own FAQ or in the forum on the topic of the manufacturer’s website.
If bulk driver update works, you can try disabling advanced features and see if the issue is resolved а. Use this as an end goal or as a troubleshooting step, and it may not be a solution unless your vendor’s adapter confirms that it does not support the functionality in question. Significantly advanced networking features can also be enabled and disabled in the operating system in the current network adapter settings. Here you can see our Advanced tab in the Network Component Adapter which shows TCP offload and Receive Side Scaling (RSS) options.
To view the settings for each of our operating systems, use the Net Shell Leadership
netsh interface tcp show request global as follows:
There are two more options you can check shortly after it has an effect on paging the TCP stack:
Show TCP Fireplace Applications from Netsh Interface
Netsh TCP displays chimney ports
These commands allow you to configure TCP offloading exclusively for a specific application or port combination. The result of the two Netsh requests is as follows:
Esland empty, no application or port has been added to the stack unload settings.
